The ICT

The Iron Curtain Trail is a 10400 kilometer long cycling path through 20 countries, that passes 14 Unesco heritage sites and runs along of three European seas.

The ICT Cycling Path runs along the border between the former communistic east and the democratic west and lets cyclists experience the the history of Europe’s separation and the Cold War. This very special cycling path is an idea of the EU parliament member Michael Cramer, who wanted to create a cycling route from the cold European north to the Mediterranean coast in the south. The ICT starts in  Norway and Finland along the Russian border, runs through Sankt Petersburg and along the Baltic Sea through the Baltic states and Poland . In Germany the route is also a symbol for the separation of the two Germanies. After passing Germany the trail runs through Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece and ends at the Turkish coast of the black sea.
